I have so many nail polishes it’s ridiculous! I’m sure my nail polish collection is over (100) bottles but the older bottles of nail polish that I bought maybe a year ago are looking a little dusty like the ones below. Back in the day those would have been destined for the trash but after my knowledge about nail care from beauty school (nail school) and making custom press on nails I learned how to salvage my nail polish even when it get’s old, dry and starts to separate.
As you can see these L.A. Colors polishes are all older and are looking unusable. The nail polish doesn’t even come out smooth enough to paint a full nail (Seen in picture on the right)
Here is the key! A simple bottle of Nail Polish Thinner from Beauty Secrets sold at Sally’s Beauty Supply it’s usually under $5.00 for a 4 fl. Oz bottle. This little bottle can take you a long way only a couple drops are needed to restore the polish back to being usable. It contains Butly Acetate, Ethyl Acetate and Heptane. Be very careful when using and try not to get on your skin. Wash hands immediately if your skin makes contact with it.
After 10 drops of nail polish thinner in each bottle and shaking each one for about a minute, They looked pretty good so I tested the nail polish and all the L.A. Colors were pretty much revived. The polish was thinner but not too thin and it was way easier to polish. If you have some crusty nail polish before you trash it give this a try!
