To make these clip in extensions you will need:

-Some type of wefted hair (I bought some clearance ombre yaki hair for $5.00 at a local beauty store)
-Thread
-Needle
-Clips with holes at the top (There are clips with holes at the sides but I prefer the ones with holes at the top at least three)
Other things to have on hand are scissors, a brush and trash bag (hair gets everywhere when you cut it)

My pieces are going to go on a wig to highlight it so I don’t need many pieces. I measure out (2) 6 inch wefts and (6) 1 ½ inch wefts and my wig is pretty thick so I doubled the wefts (stack another piece on top of it for thickness). If your hair or wig is more thin depending on the hair you might only need one piece of hair weft.

Once all my hair wefts are cut I get the thread ready by taking 3-4 needles and threading them pretty long so I can use each needle twice to loop around when hand sewing. These clips happen to have (5) holes at the top so I only sew the two ends and the middle. I loop around about three to four times and tie three knots for each hole to make sure they are secure.

After I’m completed with all the sewing I brush out the wig the clips are going in and attach the clips under the middle of the wig for length, thickness and color. These are now ready to be put in on a human head of hair or underneath a wig to change the style without altering anybody’s actual hair.

I wore them straight but this type of yaki is not human but can take heat and can be curled, waved or straightened. Make sure when buying wefted hair there is a track to be able to be sewn at the top and look at the directions if it is not human hair to see if that specific hair can take heat.
It’s also best to buy non-human hair in color because it usually cannot take coloring or bleaching. This is an old hair D.I.Y I used to do on my hair to create extensions and highlights on the cheap. Hopefully you can try this trendy do it yourself hair even if it’s just for a temporary costume, wig or event. Add a touch of color and spice with absolutely no commitment! Have fun! Be Wild! Even if it’s temporary.
