I’m very open about how I’m feeling throughout my social media journey. I went from being totally private and not even having a Instagram to having a two youtube channels, a blog, two instagrams, snapchat, twitter, and doing multiple live streams. So yes life is very different for me and I have had multiple breakdowns on twitter and snapchat sometimes even on my vlogs. I tell everybody I’m going through things and I will be back. I’m always transparent about my anxiety and depression. I have small spells where I get very sad and don’t want to create anything and sadly it’s nothing new to me. I’ve been going through that for years but nobody has ever witnessed it before because I wasn’t seen on any type of social media.
I fight pretty much everyday because creating is the only thing keeping me out of a slump. Going to work isn’t always the answer. You can go to work and still be dealing with anxiety and depression. I was always sad and depressed when I was at work. But since I have been creating on different platforms and being able to use my brain for content that I like it makes me happy. Here are some of the things that help me fight and deal with my anxiety and depression on a daily basis.
Yes! What I’m doing right now is relieving me of stress and worry. I get to express a thought that would otherwise be built up and bothering me all day and night. I’m taking that thought of anxiety & depression and creating a blog post that will hopefully help others who are trying to fight through it everyday just like me.
Making YouTube Videos
This one is hard when your not feeling very well but still want to create video content. What I’ve noticed is when I start to record by the end of the recording I feel better. So even if you don’t feel like it try to see if you can create something on camera and talk your way through it. I’m very open so I have gotten to the point where I just say I’m not doing to well and you would be surprised how many people understand.
Diffusing Essential Oils
Diffusing essential oils can really take your mood up and for me has a very calming effect. It’s like aromatherapy on a budget. I get the NOW essential oils in a large 4 oz. Because I use them almost everyday. Plus I like listening to the water and the mist is very relaxing. My current scent combination is Peppermint Oil, Lavender Oil, and Eucalyptus Oil about three drops of each. My diffuser is a nice size so it will run for 1-2 hours in one setting.
I haven’t been reading lately but when I am reading it puts my mindset wherever the book is so if it takes place in New York City your mind automatically takes you to a setting in New York City and paints a picture by it’s self kind of like a movie going on but only in your head. This is great because you don’t want your mind to wonder that’s when the problems start. So being occupied with a novel or how to book is a great option so your mind is busy in imagination mode.
Social Media Breaks
This is crucial. Your mind gets so caught up with news, guys & friends on social media and you easily forget about yourself. I see that every few days I need to not check the apps on my phone they are a huge distraction. Instead swap some of that time for meditation, working on a project, working out or pampering yourself with a manicure or foot treatment.
It’s amazing to see how crazy you get just being cooped up in the house all day and night. Go outside take a walk get some fresh air. The park is a great place to just chill and think with no distraction. Because your mind is open and you can think this is possibly a great time to come up with more ideas for upcoming ventures. Take a notepad incase you get a new idea.
This is my favorite! I grab a recipe from offline or a book and try to do it. Your teaching yourself a new meal, learning about some new ingredients, preparing your foods and timing everything. This is an excellent way to feel better instantly because if your like me I LOVE FOOD! Vegetarian and Vegan food makes me happy 🙂
Those are just a couple of ways I fight off anxiety and depression. Now it’s your turn to make a list of things that make you happy and start doing them. Staying as positive as you can is the key. Also stay grateful. Thank you so much for reading! I appreciate it!
